Summer Twins – The Good Things

15 May

People -

Consider checking out The Summer Twins. We’ve known these girls for a few years and they are (among many other things) great musicians and fun people to be around. Haven’t met a couple of girls (and sisters) quite like them and we’ve come across quite a few bands. They really have fun and they’re not pretentious, which is so freakkin’ rare with people who play music. Chelsea is probably one of the best female guitar players I have seen- she is light years ahead of me when I was her age. And Justine is pretty dang talented too – singing perfect melodies while keeping a steady beat. Someone give them a pile of money and a record deal.

Live Videos from Slidebar show 05-07-10

11 May

Thanks to our fan, Scott for coming to our shows and recording these videos and thank you to everyone who came out.

Energy – I guess we can say it’s our ‘newest single’ off our latest EP.

100% Human Hair – Should be coming out on our next release.

Woolly Mammoth – you can’t see but, Chris Lynch aka DJ OLDBOY aka Brother Cecil is up there playing the tambourine, going nuts.

Brand new track called, Get Out of My House

Thanks to everyone who came to the show, it was a ridiculously fun time as always.   We sweat a lot, we screamed a lot, we almost threw up.  Kel had a great first show – hopefully we’ll see you guys at our next one at The Silverlake Lounge in Echo Park on Thursday, June 24.

No genre.

I’ll Have An Entree of Soul with a Side of Women Who Can Sing

26 Apr

Hi Guys-

I stumbled upon this and thought I should share.  I have to say, I really love when I come across a great singer with soul.  Something about when someone can control their voice and really lay it on you like this is really amazing and hard to find – especially these days.  I wasn’t at this show unfortunately, but here is a bit of a live performance of ‘ Surely You Were Meant To Be Mine’ by Daniel Lanois’ Black Dub with Trixie Whitely on vocals tearing it up.  Please check her out and support her.  There are NOT enough women who can really belt it out like this.  All you indie rock, cutesy, crappy soft-singing indie-pop ladies: TAKE NOTES.

And here is another one for good measure.

Podcast 5.5 – Project By Jason Millar featuring The Studiofix

24 Dec

Hi folks…

Here’s a podcast 5.5 because we’re only featured in it so it’s a 5.5 and not a 6… Our friend Jason Millar approached us about his project on language discrimination. Hopefully in the future we’ll be doing some collaborations with this talented young chap.

PLEASE ENJOY.

Happy Holidays to you and yours…

PODCAST 5 – Ain’t No Sunshine feat. Jenn ‘Champ’ Pablo

14 Dec

Hello once again…This week we did “Ain’t No Sunshine” as requested by Carlos, an awesome fan of The Studiofix. Thanks, man! We hope you like it.

We played the VooDoo Lounge at the House of Blues tonight – it was quite the good time. Thanks to all who watched us and enjoyed our tunes.

Alsooooo, if you like to party, we’re throwing a New Year’s Eve party in Downtown LA at The Down & Out. Y’all should come, for real. Its gonna be a gooooood time. Peep the flyer below – we’ve got Kev Love hosting (featured in last week’s podcast), DJ Cosmonaut, as well as the one and only Keltronix spinning us into the New Year.

Right now I’m listening to Ana Sia – she’s one of the sickest women I’ve ever heard make a dirty grungy beat. Hella inspiring. Check her out: myspace.com/anasiamusic

PODCAST 4 – Empire State of Mind feating Kev Love + Kathey Bautista

7 Dec

Hello Ladies and Gents-

Here is our podcast for this week. Please enjoy. We are so lucky to know these two talented individuals featured this week and even luckier they were down to be featured. Kev Love aka John Jay from The Popular Losers and Kathey Bautista on the keys.

Also, if you made it to our show last night, THANK YOU so much for going. We had a really great time. We played 2 sets and some songs featuring Kev Love from The Popular Losers. And Keltronix was up in the booth doing his thing.

We’re playing this Friday at the Relax Bar in Hollywood… Keltronix and Kev Love will be closing out the night so if you’re looking to have a really awesome time come to catch that.

I have been really into this track so check it out: Dr. Dog – Alaska
