OC’s Studiofix do it all: high-energy rock, woozy-boozy torch songs, feral funk jams about “sexy time” and the commencing thereof, and even—if house-party memory delivers—a staggering, high-concept ripper about being a robot who likes to fuck. You get a little bit of Blue Cheer lurch, a little bit of Shocking Blue, some Ted Nugent and a touch of when Bikini Kill started rocking like the Runaways (“C-c-c-c-come in from the Ice Age!”), and somehow that all spills together into some over-the-top power-trio freakout-age. The Studiofix sing about wooly mammoths because they admire the strength, style and stamina of same.
